Terms & Conditions
Last updated: March 2026
Introduction
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the #MTDone! software platform and related services (“Service”) provided by Trebo Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17107892) (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by displaying a notice within the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
Account Registration
To use the Service, you must register for an account and provide accurate, complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at support@landlordtax.co.uk if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account. You must be at least 18 years of age and legally capable of entering into contracts under UK law to use the Service.
You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their explicit authorisation. Each account is for use by a single individual or entity. Sharing account credentials with others is prohibited unless you are on a plan that explicitly permits multiple users.
Subscription & Billing
#MTDone! is currently free to use. MTD quarterly filing is free, and users signing up during the current period get all features free for the 2026/27 tax year, including the tax return they submit by 31 January 2028. We do not collect payment details and no charges apply. Paid subscription tiers will be introduced in the future; we will update these terms and give existing users at least 30 days' notice before any charges begin.
Acceptable Use
You must use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not use the Service to submit false or misleading information to HMRC, to facilitate tax fraud or evasion, to store data relating to people other than your legitimate tenants and business contacts, or to attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or our systems.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately if we reasonably believe you are using the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a manner that could harm us, other users, or third parties. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the data you submit through the Service, including all HMRC submissions made on your behalf.
HMRC Submissions & Tax Information
The Service enables you to submit quarterly updates and annual returns to HMRC under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment. Each submission is made in your name and constitutes a legal declaration to HMRC. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of information submitted, including income, expenses, and tax categorisations. We are not a tax adviser and do not provide tax, financial, or legal advice. You should seek independent professional advice for your specific circumstances. See our Disclaimers page for full details.
Open Banking & Bank Connections
When you link a bank account, you authorise a third-party Open Banking provider (Plaid, TrueLayer, or Starling Bank) to access your transaction data. Each provider is separately regulated and their own terms of service apply in addition to ours. Bank access tokens are encrypted at rest and deleted immediately when you disconnect an account. TrueLayer consent expires after 90 days and must be renewed. You can disconnect any linked account at any time from your settings.
AI-Powered Features
Certain features use artificial intelligence, including document scanning and the support assistant. AI-generated outputs may contain errors and do not constitute professional advice. You must review all AI-extracted information before relying on it. Document content sent for AI processing is not retained by the AI provider after processing and is not used to train AI models.
WhatsApp Integration
If you choose to upload documents via WhatsApp, messages and attachments are transmitted through Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API and are subject to Meta's terms of service. We receive only the document files you send — we do not access your wider WhatsApp messages. You can unlink your WhatsApp number at any time from your settings.
Intellectual Property
The Service, including all software, designs, text, graphics, and other content, is owned by or licensed to Trebo Ltd and is protected by UK and international intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for your own personal or internal business purposes for as long as your account remains active.
You retain all ownership rights in the data you upload to or generate using the Service (“Your Data”). You grant us a limited licence to process and store Your Data solely as required to provide the Service. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any data you provide to us.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Trebo Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including any loss of profits, loss of data, or loss of goodwill. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising under or in connection with these Terms shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted. While we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of HMRC submission functionality, you remain responsible for verifying the accuracy of your tax submissions. We recommend that you seek independent professional tax advice for complex tax situations. For full details, see our Important Information & Disclaimers.
Termination
Either party may terminate these Terms at any time. You may terminate by closing your account. We may terminate your access immediately for breach of these Terms, or if we cease to operate the Service. Upon termination, your licence to use the Service will end and you must cease all use immediately.
Deleting your account is immediate and cannot be undone. There is no recovery period and no deferred deletion, so export your data before you delete it — you can do this at any time from your account settings. We delete your personal data, except where we are required by law to retain it. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect, including intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law.
Security
We take the security of your data seriously. All sensitive data, including bank connection tokens and HMRC access tokens, is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. All data in transit is protected by TLS encryption. If you believe you have discovered a security vulnerability or suspect unauthorised access to your account, please report it immediately to contact@mtdone.co.uk. We will acknowledge your report within two working days and keep you informed of our investigation.
Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim, except that we reserve the right to bring proceedings against you in any jurisdiction where you are resident or where a breach is occurring.
Contact
If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us at contact@mtdone.co.uk or write to Trebo Ltd, 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA, United Kingdom.
